The holiday-shortened week was mostly uneventful for stocks. As usual, the stock exchanges were closed on Thanksgiving and stopped trading early on Friday.
Small-cap stocks had a large gain, along with a few other sectors like retail and biotechnology. The Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq traded quietly. Each had small gains.
Economic Data
Very little economic data was released. Preliminary gross domestic product came in slightly better-than-expected. Consumer confidence was below its forecast.
TSP Funds
The S Fund had the best week with a 1.70% gain. The F Fund increased by 0.14% while the C Fund advanced by 0.09%. The I Fund fell 0.47% as a rising U.S. Dollar hurt international stocks.
