Recap of the Week
The stock market lost ground again last week. The indices fell between 1.5% (Dow Jones) to 2.8% (Nasdaq). Most indicators say stocks are oversold and due for a bounce. Is the election–and any further uncertainty or chaos surrounding it–already “priced into” the markets? We should find out early next week.
Weekly Economic Data Releases
The ISM manufacturing report and unemployment rate came in at their forecasted levels. Most economic data was negative, however. The Chicago purchasing managers index, ISM services, unemployment claims and nonfarm payroll (jobs) reports were worse-than-expected.
As anticipated, the Fed left rates unchanged in last week’s meeting. In the futures market, the odds of a December rate increase fell from 74% to 66%.
TSP Funds
It was another bad week for the funds. The F Fund had the only gain. It moved up 0.24%. The C Fund fell by 1.89%, while the S Fund declined 1.87%. The I Fund fell by 1.52%.
